FOR SALE: RIETVELD 56!
A unique mixture of old and new: this monumental 16th century house has been completely remodelled and combined with very modern new architecture. The house is well-known in the international architecture world, ‘you either love it or hate it’. If you love it, this house is the ideal family house in which working and living can be combined, or it can be used as a home in its totality.
The architect is Jan Pesman of architectural office Cepezed. The assignment was to create an open and flexible house, in which the use of every space can be flipped from working to living in an instant. The result: two buildings that are completely connected to each other by way of an open stairwell in the middle.
The full width of the ground floor is used as a combination living/office/workshop area, and the upper floors consist of the living area including a rooftop terrace with a unique view on the New Church (Nieuwe Kerk). All seven spaces are in open connection to each other. Additionally, there are four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a garden room. The bathrooms and kitchen are finished practically. The spacious, shaded, west facing city garden has a back entrance and two storages.
The Rietveld location is ideal, peaceful canal-side living with all facilities nearby. The greatest specialty shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars are situated in the popular northern part of the historic centre. The cosy ‘Doelenplein’ square is around the corner, and it is just a short walk to the Schie or the Delftse Hout via the Doelentuin. The train station and tram stops are at a 10 minute walking distance. FLOOR PLAN
